Unable to get gigabit connection between router and switch?
I have a gigabit router (D-Link DIR-655) and a gigabit switch (Trendnet TEG-80g). All my compters are gigabit enabled. Computers can connect at gigabit speed when connected to each unit directly. But when the router and switch are connected to each other, I get only get 100Mbps. I have changed ethernet cables and tried different ports on the router and switch. The problem remains unresolved.
I am using CAT6 cables. If 2 PC's are connected directly to the router, then they can communicate at 1Gbps to each other. The same if both PC's are connected to the switch. When router is connected to the switch, the link lights indicate an 100Mbps connection. If PC-A is connected to router, and PC-B is connected to switch, then overall speed from PC-A to PC-B is limited to 100Mbps by the slow connection between router and switch.
It may say that but thats just what it shows what you need to do is do a bandwidth test....
I would say do 1 out of 3. then take the average and thats what you have....
