Trendnet Usb
trying to establish a wireless usb trendnet adapter please help?
I have a compaq armada 110 and I am trying to install a trendnet wireless usb adapter. I install it and when I click on networks there is no wireless connection. I live on campus to I am catching free wifi so have no idea where the router is. I am running win xp currently as well.....I have tried my connection wizard and it goes throught he whole processs but no connection....thanks in advance
If you installed the Trendnet's software, you should use it's application to get a wireless connection.
If there is no Trendnet specific software, then use Windows's own wireless configuration utility:
Click Start > Run > services.msc
scroll all the way down and look for 'Wireless Zero Configuration' and right-click to choose 'Start'
Now go to Control Panel > Network Connections
Right Click on the Wireless Adapter, and choose properties.
In that Window, click on the 'Wireless Networks' tab and go from there.
NOTE: If the Trendnet application is active, it will interfere with Windows's application, ensure it's not running!
NOTE2: Windows's wireless management is much more stable with Service Pack 2. If you go in the 'System' item inside Control Panel, you can see if you are currently using Service Pack 2, if you do not have it, run Windows Update to install it.
