Is it safe to pay my bills online with Billpay using my Sprint wireless broadband connection at home?
I recently purchased a Sprint wireless broadband Sierra aircard and would like to get rid of my dial-up connection (home phone) and just use this and my cell as my communication. I just need to know how safe it would be to use my Billpay option at my bank to pay bills using this connection. I have always paid my bills using the dial-up connection without any security issues. Please advise... Thanks!
Using broadband service from SPRINT is almost the same as using broadband from DSL or cable. The problem you may face is how secure your PC is. If your PC is infected it doesn't matter what you use to transmit.
These are best practices to protecting your computer/laptop:
- Perform monthly updates of Microsoft patches
- Perform daily updates of your Anti-Virus/Firewall program(s)
- Perform daily updates to your Anti-Spyware and Adware program(s)
- Perform a weekly scan of your hard-disk for viruses/spyware
Best of all know your computer. When you are connecting on a Wireless Network
- You see your hard-drive flashing solid green and you are not doing anything. Your computer/laptop may be infected.
Have two separate logins on your computer. One with admin rights and another with regular rights. Always use the login with the regular rights. If someone hacks in during your session. The hacker is limited to the account with regular rights and can't do much.
Always have a backup of your computer/laptop for restore purposes.
At the end it is up to you. Never visit sites that you don't recognized and don't trust your Emails. Always take it with a grain of salt.

Craigslist Blocked Sprint Wireless Cards?
Do you have a Sprint wireless card and post on Craigslist? Sprint wireless cards are great tools as they allow you to get a new IP each time you reconnect to the internet. These have been extremely useful tools that have been used by Craigslist marketers for sometime now. However, it recently looks as though Craigslist may have blacklisted or banned Sprint cards from Craigslist. Why would they do this, just how could you determine if your Sprint card has been blacklisted or not and is there anything you can do if you have been affected?
The main reasons Sprint cards were so, or are still so popular is that they allow you to get a new IP each time you redial. Why is this important when posting on Craigslist? Craigslist tracks and logs IP activity, using a dynamic IP service such as the Sprint cards in the past allowed you to get a fresh new IP to post on Craigslist with. Recently though it looks as though Craigslist my have put a network wide block or ban on Sprint cards. If you use a Sprint card the first thing you should do is test to see if this really is the case for you. The best way to troubleshoot if this has happened is to create a new Craigslist account using a fresh new IP and clearing all cookies and cache from your computer. When you have done this go ahead and post some ads on Craigslist, preferably in one of the sections that does not require phone verification. If your ad goes through and does not request you to verify you account before you can post (aka phone verification) then there is very good chance that your Sprint card and the IP range it is on has not been affected. However, if you attempt to post an ad in a section on Craigslist that does not required phone verification (these sections include all of the sections outside of Services) then it would be safe to say that you are one of the unlucky and have been affected. If this is the case, don't worry. Your Sprint card is still completely useable and you can continue to post ads on Craigslist, the problem is that you will never to use phone verified accounts if you wish to continue using the Sprint card. In this situation you could either get rid of your Sprint card and find another wireless dynamic IP provider that was not blocked or you will need to obtain phone verified accounts. Beyond requiring phone verified accounts before you can continue using your Sprint card, everything else is as normal.
Having a Sprint card blocked on Craigslist is a possibility. The best way to find out if this has happened to you is to post in any of the non-Services sections on Craigslist that don't require phone verification. If you must verify before you can post then you have been blocked. You can work around this by either just using phone verified accounts or by trying to find another wireless provider with the hope their IP range isn't already blocked.
