Vga Splitter: Splits Signals and Relays them to Multiple VGA Devices
VGA Splitter (Video Graphic Array) is a hardware device that permits you to display your computer's video signal with VGA output on as many as 16 VGA monitors. By cascading this device, it could be made into series of multiple VGA splitters so as to display the image on 90 or more monitors. There is no loss of signal and the images are crystal clear because the video splitter amplifies the signal. The protocols that video splitters follow are DDC, DDC2, and DDC2B. Using Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 cables which are pretty inexpensive, the VGA video signals can be extended to up to 984ft away from the source.
Alternatively known as the VGA distribution amplifier, this device is nothing but a video Signal Booster and a splitter. Used to distribute high resolution video signals to two or more displays, the booster enhances the video signal to such an extent that crystal clear pictures are delivered. To make the distribution amplifier ideal for all applications which require high performance distribution of video signal; they have been made available in three form factors namely Portable, Rack Mount and Wall Mount. The prime function of this amplifier is to take the signal from one computer video port, amplify it and then split it so as to feed two or more high resolution data displays. For video signals such as Composite video, S-Video, RGBS or RGBHV, specially designed video distribution amplifiers are used.

In addition to routing video remotely the video splitter also has the option to support local video. These splitters are available in various sizes such as 2, 4, 8 and 16 port sizes. Supporting VGA / SVGA monitors which also include LCD flat panel monitors this hardware device is compliant with DDC, DDC2, as well as the DDC2B protocol and is also available with optional stereo audio. Mostly found in classrooms, business presentations, conference rooms, remote monitoring and training facilities, tradeshows and digital signage applications, the VGA Splitter is so used because in all these cases high quality video on multiple monitors is required.
