Why is my PC running even slower after installing Norton's System Works. Thought it was meant to improve perf?
I have also installed Norton's Internet Security (Came as bundle) to protect my PC from viruses etc.
SystemWorks DECREASES performance. It requires memory and processing power to keep it running.

Windows Xp Security Center - a Threat to Your Money and Computer
There is a huge number of rogue anti-spyware and antivirus programs out there which do nothing more than misinform you with scare tactics that trick you into buying unneeded security solutions that are really nothing more than viruses bundled with other viruses, spyware and adware. Windows XP Security Center is a similar scam. In comparison to other rogue antivirus software that give you pop-ups and send you to websites to download false antivirus programs, XP Security Center poses as your familiar Windows security center, which usually informs you about the status of the security applications on the computer.
This rogue antivirus program uses scare tactics by telling you that your computer is infected and asking you to buy a certain security product. The product does nothing to the computer because all the attacker wants to do is steal your money, not harm your computer. Once installed on your computer, Windows XP Security Center displays pop-up windows every once in a while notifying you about the existence of an "infection." If you choose to continue "unprotected" the application stays in the background and minimizes the window to the System Tray, only to pop up again in a few minutes.
If, on the other hand, you do install the rogue antivirus program, you are looking at a whole slew of problems. Once installed, Windows XP Security Center will disable your antivirus and anti-spyware programs. Windows XP Security Center then slows your computer down to a crawl and will even make your computer seize up.
In the past, getting rid of Windows XP Security Center has proven to be very difficult. If you do a Google search on XP Security Center, you will find many posts on technical message boards discussing how hard it is to remove this virus. Many posts are from people begging for answers on how to remove Windows XP Security Center, as well as tales of people trying out different antivirus programs only to have the programs miss removing the entire virus. When parts of the virus are missed, Windows XP Security Center reinstalls itself on the computer, thus reinfecting your computer all over again. Traditionally, to remove this virus you would have to go into your operating system's registry and spend hours removing Windows XP Service Center one file at a time and repairing your registry as you go. Since those who are in the computer industry are hesitant to go into the registry for fear of doing irreparable damage to the operating system, those who are not advanced computer users would have a very hard time removing Windows XP Security Center.
There is hope, however. Today's top anti virus applications quickly and easily remove Windows XP Security Center. Some programs are so fully automated that all you have to do is tell the program to run and then reboot when the program tells you to. Most antivirus companies will make a fix for you if you have found a new strain within a couple of days, while some antivirus companies get back to you within a couple of hours. If you're unfortunate enough to have XP Security Center on your computer, a Google search of antivirus and anti-spyware programs that have been successful at removing the virus should help you succeed at ridding your computer of it.
