Network Crimper
What is a good list of tools to get for a mobile PC technician?
I am starting my own mobile PC technician service, and I was wanting to get some recommendations as to what I should purchase in the way of tools. So far I have the following:
Basic tool kit (screwdrivers, screws, etc..)
Network cable, crimper, connectors, etc...
Hard drives (for data cloning and backup)
Adaptors (To convert serial ata/IDE to usb, etc...)
Blank media (CD's, Floppy disks)
Bootable CD's
What other suggestions would you guys make? Also, is Norton Ghost the best cloning software (that's all I've ever used), or could you recommend something better for hard drive cloning and backup? Thanks a million!
Get a flash drive and load some utilities on it, like antivirus/antispyware installers. My best tool is a Knoppix linux boot cd. It loads linux into RAM and allows access to hard drives (even if Windows wont boot) and it includes web browsing software and CD burning software. I use the CD burning to salvage files from bad hard drives before formatting. As far as imaging, Ghost is the best one that I know of.
