Remote access software allows people to use their computer or mobile device to take control of a separate computer located anywhere in the world. While there are many applications for these types of software, in this article we will look at 4 ways in which it can be used to remotely manage a project.
1) Make interactive presentations – Using remote access software a user can allow others to log onto their system and view a presentation. While logged in users can also make changes, add notes and give dynamic feedback on what they are seeing. This option is a great boon to many businesses because they can make a long distance presentation a rich experience for both ends rather than a one sided experience that may lack some information and effectiveness.
2) Web conference – With ever increasing bandwidth and always improving compression technologies, live web conferencing has become a staple of corporations worldwide. Using remote access software users can set-up and deliver high quality web conferences on very short notice.
3) Group editing – Remote access software allows for multiple users to edit a document at the same time. Editing in this manner can save significant amounts of time as it eliminates time spent on re-editing and submitting different versions. In group editing all contributors can simultaneously make, view and track changes to content and make the process of editing as efficient as possible.
4) Progress monitoring – A project manager can use remote access to monitor all aspects of each contributors progress. Rather than wait for emails or other periodic updates, the manager can simply logon to a worker’s computer and view his progress in real time. 5) Crisis aversion – Many times a long distance project can unintentionally result in an end product that is not in line with the manager’s original vision.
